Digital Citizenship

Vision for Digital Citizenship at Pine Creek High School
Pine Creek High School is almost a complete 1:1 school. By next school year, 2016-2017, all of our students and staff will have iPads to use in the learning environment. This transformation in practice necessitates addressing Digital Citizenship in our school. Digital Citizenship is not meant to be an additional requirement, lesson or course, but rather a practice woven into and throughout all that we do. In conjunction with our feeder schools, Mountain View Elementary School and Challenger Middle Schools, we have chosen to adopt Common Sense Media's curriculum.

Categories for Digital Citizenship as explained by Common Sense Media:
Privacy & Security
Managing online information and keeping it secure.
Creative Credit & Copyright
Responsibilities and rights as online creators and consumers.
Digital Footprint & Reputation
Protecting and respecting privacy. Reflecting before sharing online.
Information Literacy
What are credible, quality, and valid online sources?
Cyberbullying
The positive and negative roles that people play online and the results of one's online actions.
Self-Image & Identity
Online and offline identity.
Relationships & Communication
Building positive online communities and contributing positively to those communities.
Internet Safety
Distinguishing between inappropriate and positive online connections.
